BOOST PORTUGAL EXPANDS INTERNATIONAL PRESENCE
In 2025, the Portuguese company will complete the opening of seven new operations across Europe, the United States, and South America. This expansion is being driven by Spinach Tours, the project that marked the beginning of Boost Portugal’s internationalization and which already has a presence in Cape Verde.
Boost Portugal, a leader in offering authentic and sustainable experiences, is set to expand into new international markets, with the goal of solidifying its global presence by 2025. The company’s international expansion began in 2023 with the opening of a Spinach Tours location on Sal Island, Cape Verde. Plans are already underway for openings in Spain (Toledo, Seville, Málaga, and Benalmádena), the Netherlands (Amsterdam), the United States (Los Angeles), and South America (Aruba).
Since the beginning of the year, Boost Portugal has grown by 27% compared to the same period last year. The company is expected to close the year with a 33% year-over-year growth and a turnover exceeding €22 million. Expansion into these markets will allow Boost Portugal to consolidate this growth and strengthen its offerings to an increasingly diverse customer base.
Spinach Tours: The Brand Driving International Growth
Spinach Tours, also led by João Paiva Mendes and Leonel Soares, was launched in 2023 as a spinoff, offering interactive sightseeing tours. These experiences are conducted in Spinach cars—small, green, electric vehicles that are easy to drive and designed for two passengers. Equipped with proprietary technology developed by Boost Portugal, the cars act as tours guides, sharing historical facts with passengers in a fun and engaging way. Both the technology and the assembly of the vehicles are proudly Portuguese.
The brand has also recently opened its flagship store in one of Lisbon’s most iconic areas: Largo do Terreiro do Trigo. Designed to serve as a model for international expansion, the flagship store is a unique showcase of Spinach Tours’ potential for B2B clients.
With a gross area of 350 square meters, the Lisbon store represents an investment of €250,000 and aims to offer an immersive and entertaining experience. The décor features neon elements, green accents, and natural materials that emphasize the brand’s sustainable positioning. In line with this philosophy, staff uniforms are made from organic cotton.
Spinach Tours was recognized in 2023 with one of the most prestigious international tourism awards: the “Tour Innovator Award” at the Arival Spotlight Awards. Additionally, it was a finalist for the BPI Turismo de Portugal Award in 2023.
